Which Religion Is Correct?
There are over 779 Christian Denominations, according to Wikipedia -
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Christian_denominations

For 1500 years of the 2000 years of Christianity, there was essentially ONE church - the Catholic Church. Along came protester Martin Luther in 1517, and we now have HUNDREDS of new churches. Primary opposition to Catholicism resulted from the many, non-biblical inventions of the Catholic Church, which people became fed-up with - vicious inquisitions, indulgences (paying for entrance to Heaven), idolatry (Mary worship, saints, relics, shrines, statues), confession to man instead of God, sexual repression and resultant perversion, etc., etc.

Each Protestant sect believes that they are correct, and that all others have it wrong. Many varying beliefs have been accommodated, in various combinations. Add to this the DOZENS of versions of the "Holy Bible", and anything may be believed.

Since they do not agree, they cannot possibly ALL be correct. Simple logic dictates that therefore, none must be correct. But then, logic does not apply to religion - logic is replaced by "faith", which simply means, the denial of logic. Nothing needs to "make sense", but only believed, as dictated by the carefully contrived dogma, in each of the hundreds of various sects.

If God had created religion, there would be ONE faith. But man created religion, resulting in 100's of versions. Word of God? As defined by which humans? By which ecumenical council? Infallibility doctrine? That is just silly.

Must Religion Be So Absolute?
Either MY way or the highway?

It appears to me that it would be impossible to choose the "correct" religion, since there is no such thing, because men do not agree. One man's divine revelation is another man's sheer fantasy. There is no proof - there is only speculation.

Perhaps the reasonable approach would suggest that the important thing is to just make an honest effort. But not by the standards of most religions, that describe an unyielding, demanding, jealous, vindictive, vengeful God. Don't guess wrong, or you will burn in hell forever.

Believing in a religion because of fear, threats, and other people's obsessions has no appeal to me. During my teenage years, I had rigid, Pentecostalism rammed down my throat. I was forced to attend church 5 times a week, twice on Sunday. My dad believed "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it." Don't count on it, if he has half a brain.

Rigid, forced indoctrination does not equal truth - not even close. Ask any Catholic who has converted. Catholicism is the poster child for "cram it down their throats" indoctrination, with NO TOLERANCE WHATSOEVER for divergent views. The most absolutist, dogmatic religion ever. There are now 6 Catholics on the U.S. Supreme Court. We are in big trouble. Separation of church and state? Yeah, sure. Right.

Disclaimer:
This is a summary of data found on Wikipedia. I have included a count of the sects, which Wikipedia does not.

I was motivated to create this page, when I read on the Internet that there were "over 10,000 Christian sects". I did not believe this, so I created this page.
