The Latest UHC SCREW JOB

AARP is bombarding us with TV ads for UHC "Medicare Supplemental Plans", which is JUST ANOTHER SCREW JOB.

What they say - "Part B only pays 80% of charges."
BULL!
In 2013, I was in the hospital for 5 days.
$ 109,974 = TOTAL Charges
$ 108,790 = What standard Medicare paid
98.9 % is what standard Medicare paid.

Buying a UHC "Supplemental" Plan is the same as BURNING UP YOUR MONEY.
YOU DON'T NEED IT. They lie that you need it.
They say "80 %". THEY LIE. It was "98.9 %".
UHC is all about STEALING YOUR MONEY, under false pretenses, and has NOTHING TO DO with your medical health, only the cash removal from your bank account.
Wise up, or get screwed.

1. GETTING REAMED
     The Secret "Donut Hole"

I went with the
AARP sponsored Part D Prescription Drug Plan through United Health care. HUGE mistake! Don't you do it, too.

You give them all your prescription data, and they guarantee to sell you the drugs for a year at a given price. THAT IS A BALD-FACED LIE. They have your prescriptions list, and they know EXACTLY what they will be supplying you with. But they don't tell you that they will be extorting you, after you sign up.

The original deal was four EQUAL 3-month prescription fills. Get ready to bend over. On my second refill, they gave me the "donut-hole" screw job.

The Part D "Donut Hole" defined - An undisclosed, unexpected large payment when you attempt to get your second refill. "Donut hole is a nickname for the Medicare Part D "Coverage Gap".

I walked away. Not another
penny to these jerks.

1. You are NOT TOLD about the donut-hole, before you sign up. This is nothing short of fraud. THIS SUCKS!

2. THEY can CHANGE YOUR "formulary" AT ANY TIME, and not inform you about it. Your drugs can be eliminated, or priced far higher, without you even being told, until you walk in the door, and try to get them.
THIS SUCKS!

3. But YOU are STUCK with them until the end of the year, before you can exit the plan, and join another plan (and no doubt, encounter new surprises).
THIS SUCKS!

4. NEVER PAY ALL 12 MONTHLY PREMIUMS UP FRONT, UNLESS YOU ARE AN IDIOT, LIKE I WAS!
They screwed me for 9 months of premiums ($ 598) which I should not have paid, and never would have paid, had I known that I would get NO DRUGS from them for 9 months.
THIS SUCKS!

A royal screw job from UnitedHealthcare.
A royal screw job from

Medicare Part D
Prescription Drug Plans
My Advice -
Avoid AARP

Tip #

Advice

1

DISCLOSURE

Where is the d@mned disclosure? In the fine print? We need a new law, that REQUIRES full disclosure of this gouging, extortion technique, which is part of the plan at United Healthcare, sponsored by the evil
AARP.
.

-

2

AARP

Avoid anything
AARP.
Avoid United Healthcare like the plague.
.

3

INITIAL SCREW JOB

NEVER pay for the whole year in advance ($792), like I did, because you have just shot yourself in the foot. They have already extorted money from you. You just don't know it yet.

There is no way to get a refund. You can only try to draw blood, just like I am doing here, with bad press. People need to be made aware of this corporate medical fraud.
.

4

OUT IN THE COLD

Since you cannot get your next fill early, it is imperative to ALWAYS hoard some of your drug supply. Skip one day each week, until you have created a buffer stockpile.

Because, you will be left with NO DRUGS, if you wait until your next refill, only to be told that you must pay AN EXTRA $2,892, to get the drugs that you contracted to get for $1,464. This is nothing but PLANNED extortion, and should be ILLEGAL.
.

5

GENERICS

Never accept a BrandName prescription from your doctor. That is what creates the donut hole (undisclosed, planned price gouging). ALWAYS INSIST upon a generic equivalent. If your doctor won't do that, GET ANOTHER DOCTOR.
.

6

JERKS!

The
AARP and United Healthcare can go straight to blazes.
And Safeway by association.
(Is there a Safe Way to get reamed?)
.

SAFEWAY DAN

Dan, the pharmacist at 41st Ave. Safeway, where I MUST get my drugs on this plan, was very good at handling an incredibly irate customer - me. Hats off to Dan. He doesn't make the rules. My guess is that he is well practiced. Surely, I am but one of many experiencing United Healthcare fraud. Thanks, Dan.

2. You Can't Get Out
     IMPOSSIBLE to Disenroll

#

The Ugly Facts
You Are Screwed
YOU CAN'T GET OUT!

0

When you visit your UHC "Plan" during the disenrollment period, there is no mention WHATSOEVER regarding how to get out.

There should be THREE BUTTONS at the very top of the page -
1. Disenroll from UHC Drug Plan
2. Disenroll from Part D ENTIRELY
and
3. Re-Enroll in the UTC Drug plan.

The only option given is 3, because UTC is a medithief corporation that wants all the money it can get, any way they can get it. ESPECIALLY, they like to collect your premiums, and then provide ZERO benefits.
.

-

1

KNIFE IN THE BACK

In April 2013, I exited the plan, due to the back-stabbing donut hole which United NEVER REVEALED. I never made the $3,000 donut-hole payment, and I never received any drug from them after April 2014. They REFUSED TO acknowledge my exit, and KEPT ALL of my monthly premiums.
.

2

DUE DILIGENCE

In early December, I looked everywhere on the Part D website, and I could NOT find any way to exit UnitedHealthcare. I did not know the secret password, which was "disenrollment form".

If you are unaware of this term, then you CAN'T search for it, and you will spend hours spinning your wheels. EXACTLY what UHC wants!

I was able to update my formulary. I changed it to generic drugs only, and dropped the expensive Androgel and Diovan. In spite of this, my new monthly premium went up $7.50, from $66 to $73.50.
.

3

DEC. 18, 2014

I called 1-888-867-5575 for "Questions".
They said the wait would be 10 minutes. The wait was 36 minutes. What follows is the transcript of that call. It is self-explanatory.
.

The TRANSCRIPT
Her: "Thank you for calling UHC. This is Patricia. Who do I have the pleasure of speaking to today?"
Me: "Hi, Patricia. I'm Vaughn.
Her: "And are you calling regarding your account?"
Me: "Yes, I am." (DUH)
Her: "All right, your account information didn't come up."
Me: " I don't know why it wouldn't come up. My last name is Aubuchon."
Her: "May I have your member ID Number?"
Me: "My ID number is 0141117xxx."
Her: "Thank you."
Her: "All right, Mr. Aubuchon. May I have your Date of Birth?"
Me: "x-xx-xx"
Her: "And how may I help you today?"
Me: "I would like to cancel my prescription drug plan."
Her: "OK. one moment. I'm sorry you want to leave the UHC family. But why do you want to disenroll?"
Me: "Actually, I tried to get out in April, and I haven't gotten any more drugs since April, after you gave me that donut-hole. I got a $3,000 charge I wasn't expecting. I thought that was kind of shabby."
Her: "So, you want to disenroll because why? Please tell me."
Me: "Because I don't like your plan."
Her: "All right, I apologize for that, but your ... the time to disenroll from the plan, was during the annual enrollment period, which started in October 2014, and just ended on December 7, 2014 That was the time to disenroll.
Me: "I had already disenrolled in APRIL. I bought no drugs since April (through UHC). I made the mistake of paying you up front, for all the months, and I never got a refund for that. And I never paid the donut-hole. So I abandoned your plan.
And I sent a letter asking you to delete me, and you did NOT delete me.
Her: "NO. Where did you send the letter to sir, if I may ask?"
Me: "I would have to go and check, since it was back in April.
Her: OK, because you are still showing active here. Let me go back to your notes from April and see what I can find.
Me: "Can't you just get me out now?"
Her: "No.
Me: "I'm not going to pay any payments
Her: "Listen sir, I know you are frustrated. There's a procedure to follow in this enrollment, you're still active ...
Me: "I am trying to follow it right now. I tried to follow it in April."
Her: "I don't know what happened in April. This is what I am going to tell you. In order to disenroll outside of our annual enrollment period ended on Dec. 7, you would have to send a disenrollment form to us.
Me: "How do I find out about that? I went on there, I looked at it, I didn't see any way to disenroll whatsoever. There was no opportunity to do that."
Her: "I'm gonna issue - give you the five methods of disenrollment, but you're not going to be able to disenroll at this time."
Me: "I'm disenrolled! You're not going to see another penny from me. Can you understand that?
(I cannot repeat the rest of the conversation. I lost it. UHC can burn in Hades.)
.

4

No Right Answer

Theoretically and morally, the RIGHT answer was, "There was NO WAY to quit the UHC program, during the enrollment period."
But, she would not accept that as a valid reason.

I SCANNED THE AARP UHC SITE HIGH AND LOW, AND THERE WAS NO WAY WHATSOEVER to cancel Part D coverage ENTIRELY. Do you suppose that the medithieves planned it that way? They sure-as-hell did!
.

5

Where Is the Damned Form?

It took me many hours of searching to find this -
https://www.uhcmedicaresolutions.com/
Individual/

Disenrollment_Form_MA.pdf

There is NO LINK to this document on the AARP UHC Part D website. Why is that? They do NOT want you to be able to get out of their clutches.
THIS SHOULD BE ILLEGAL.
.

6

The Bottom Line

UHC has managed to screw me for TWO years.
In 2014
, they screwed me with the UNMENTIONED donut-hole payment charge. I never paid it, and abandoned any hope of getting reasonably priced drugs from them.

In 2015 (12-14), they screwed me by not providing me with an opt-out option WHICH COULD BE FOUND. Now, they have the Social Security Administration playing the police role of collection agency, by stealing the $72 monthly premiums directly from my SS Retirement payments.

$ 72.50 a month for NOTHING!
$ 870 a year for NOTHING!

Medicare says,
"That's just fine. We will be the enforcer, and subtract the monthly extortion premiums from your SSA Retirement payments each month. We are sorry, but you are screwed."

UHC Sucks canal water.
.

7

Medicare Priorities

One would assume that Medicare would advocate for its members. They do not. They cater to the thieving drug plan providers. Without Medicare advocacy, you are screwed. Follow the money trail.

All benefits accrue to the plan providers, and all "gotchas" accrue to UHC plan participants.
.

8

Don't Be An Idiot

You have many drug plan choices. If you pick UnitedHealthcare, you have made the WORST choice possible. God help you.

UHC is #1 in one statistic. They collect more premium payments than anyone else. They do NOT provide the most benefits. They are legendary in denying benefits. Their excessive profits result from coverage denial. That is their Modus Operandi.
.

9

The SSA Becomes the Cop

They promised to disenroll me on Mar. 31, if I don't pay. GREAT! The problem is, that the Social Security Administration is the enforcement cop for the AARP, and tells me that they are going to pay the UHC b@stards anyway, out of my Retirement Benefits.

How could this happen? The SSA, a provider of benefits, is tasked with the enforcement of UHC thieving fees, that the participant DID NOT WANT, DID NOT sign up for, and has LOUDLY disavowed?

EFF UHC. Squarely in the whatever.

SOAB. Catch 22. Life sucks.
We are all just prey, to UHC. And the fed says it is OK.

.

10

United Healthcare Predation

UHC engages in the systematic fleecing of the American people.

----> The Congress doesn't care - they love the corporate lobbyist payola.

----> The AARP doesn't care - they make lots of money screwing people.

----> Medicare doesn't care - insurance company predation is a given.

----> Do YOU care? You will when they start emptying your pockets, with the acquiescence of the U.S. Government.
.

These plundering thieves must be stopped!
I've done all I legally can.

Some will go far to try to get justice, from the current frustrating, biased, corrupt system. Others will go much further than I. More power to them. I wish them success.

As a minimum, I will provide bad press (i.e., the truth) for UHC during the entire year of 2015, or until I am released from their screw job Part D Extortion Plan.
.

So I tried option #2.
Medicare sent me a document which said that I could disenroll by calling 1-877-772-1213 -

"...wait is longer than normal." Then, after 30 minutes, they hung up on me. Just how many times does the SSA think that I am going to do this?

With a bad heart, and stroke history?

You got it. I'M FOCKING DONE! This is NOT a viable option. It simply induces apoplexy, and makes me want to kill.

It is truly a wretched circumstance that retired seniors must spend their last days suffering the slings and arrows of mega medi-thief corporations, while the lobbyists continue to drive senior citizens into the dirt.

The voice of reason and fairness does NOT exist at UHC. Nor at AARP. Only rapacious corporate greed.
.

20

3. BS Auto-enrollment
     Trapped by Law

.
Should be Opt In -
NOT Opt Out
UHC lobbyists were able to get a law passed that screws you AUTOMATICALLY.

Once you are signed up, they assume that you will not want to leave. They have made it oh-so-convenient for you to continue with them.
THERE IS NO EFFING MENTION OF ANY "DISENROLLMENT FORM".
.

THIS IS UNCONSCIONABLE.
It is outright theft.
A huge number of prey are going to want to get out after 1 year, after seeing how UHC operates - BIG on premiums, SH|TTY on benefits, plus the
SECRET, UNDISCLOSED donut hole.
.

The law needs to be changed. Each enrollee MUST be asked every year, if they want to continue, OR NOT, using a check box at the VERY TOP of the form.
.

1. GO AWAY!
2. NEVER contact me again
3. Eventually, I will get the S.S.A. to kick you to the curb.
4. I will fight you tooth and nail, until I get out of your clutches.
.

UnitedHealth Care is the quintessential example of why U.S. Health care -

1. Is the MOST expensive in the world

and

2. Provides the WORST care of the top 15 high-income nations.
.

Private, for-profit health care medithieves are the new Robber Barons.

- Denial of benefits
- Thieving enrollment policies
- Competition collusion
- No opposition from Congress

PLUS

- PROFITABILITY is based upon, and determined by, DENIAL OF BENEFITS.

Philosophically, this is morally repugnant, and causes injury to many patients.

Many times, lethal injury. Health insurance that kills you. Yeah, that's the ticket!

The UHC health plan offers no lube.

Exceptions to Disenrollment Period
(Of course, I don't qualify.)

Fascinating. In my phone call with Patricia above, she REFUSED to tell me "the FIVE" exceptions for disenrollment outside the disenrollment period. I HAD TO GUESS. But she DID TELL ME that there were 5.

THIS letter lays out NINE exceptions for disenrollment outside of the disenrollment period.

They forgot one. I want to get away from you evil b@stards! LET ME GO!
.

HERE are the disenrollment exception reasons:

1. I have both Medicare and Medicaid or my state helps pay for my Medicare monthly payments.

2. I get Extra Help paying for Medicare Prescription Drug coverage.

3. I no longer qualify for extra help paying for my Medicare Prescription drugs. I stopped receiving Extra Help on (insert date) ________ .

4. I'm moving into, live in, or recently moved out of a long-term care facility (for example, a nursing home, or long-term facility. I moved/will move into/out of the facility on (insert date) ________ .

5. I'm joining a PACE (Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly) program on (insert date) ________ .

6. I'm joining employer or union coverage on (insert date) ________ .

7. I have or am signing up for other credible coverage such as TRICARE or Veterans Assistance benefits. I understand this election is valid only if I'm currently enrolled in a Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug plan or Medicare Prescription Drug plan.

8. I recently moved outside of the service area for my current plan.

9. I'm disenrolling during the Open Enrollment (Request must be received between Oct 15-Dec 7) and I understand my disenrollment date will be Dec 31.

ALL of which means that I am SOL, along with millions of others.
What a ridiculous, convoluted POS.

Dear Vaughn,

At UnitedHealthCare® we make every attempt to plan ahead in anticipation of the many reasons you may want to speak with us. However, the number of calls we've received recently has been much higher than we expected. We reacted as best we could, but it simply wasn't enough to prevent some long wait times.

As a result, you may have waited on hold for quite some time before we were able to help you. I am writing today to acknowledge your wait and offer my sincere apology.

Recent efforts to train and hire additional staff will help ensure we continue to improve the quality of your experience. You can count on my personal promise to make my personal promise to make sure it happens.

Warmest Regards,
Michael Baker

This letter just oozes with slime.
"Sincere apology". WHAT A CROCK!
UHC is running EXACTLY as planned and intended, "Deny enrollees access to communication, and they can't do sh**." Then, just have a customer relations flunky fling excuses at them.

How much does a UHC VP get paid to ream people every which way? You need to be a plundering thief with NO conscience, to get the job. Then, you have to be a real pr*** to keep it.

"Warmest Regards" to someone you KNOW hates you? The very definition of smarmy. A kiss for you too, Mike.
AM I DISENROLLED YET?

YES! You have finally caught on.

"The $218.40 you owe may be given to a collection agency."

May Justice Prevail.
A pox upon the house of UnitedHealthcare.
Your illegitimate collection agency will NEVER receive a penny from me, due to your
1. Contrived Debt, and
2. Lying, obfuscating, profiteering, sleaseball, unjust, screw-the-customer antics.

You know EXACTLY where you can shove your
1. autoenrollment assault, and
2. hidden disenrollment form.

Participation should be OPT-IN EVERY YEAR. It should not be required to OPT-OUT by hidden form.

You are shifty, slimy thieves, and you know it.
And so are your sleazy lobbyists, who write the laws that create these unconscionable practices.

Whoops Think again. They intend to pursue me into the grave. Looks like they need some more bad press. OK. I can do that, with the help of Baidu, Bing, Duck-Duck, Google, Yahoo, etc.

Disclaimer
All statements on this page are believed to be correct. The courts have established that parody images are protected free speech.

The Medicare "donut-hole" is slang for the "Medicare Part D coverage gap". Can you understand it? I can't. I don't think that it was intended to be understood. It is simply obfuscation, for the purpose of fraudulently extorting more money from you. WHERE IS THE UPFRONT DISCLOSURE? It is nonexistent, which proves my point.

The sole purpose of this page is to encourage further research on your part. Avoid any AARP product. They are a marketing company, not a consumer advocate, as they present themselves. They are all about money - THEIRS, not yours.

I hope that you have found this United Healthcare sucks page helpful.
Thank you very much for your time.
