Here is my experience with one internet domain registration service.

I hope I can save you some trouble, when you register your domain name. Do NOT settle for poor performance. Select another company for domain name registration. Some internet name registry services can be a black hole. Read my Customer Survey. Then read my comments.

Go to the Official Internet Domain Name Registrar List - Internic,
and select another registrar of domain names.

Domain Registration Problems

My Issue - A common problem - Why did you change my user "Handle", and what is my password?

You can try to jump through these Example Registrar hoops, but you won't get anywhere.

Emails are answered with even far more complex instructions than the above.
Email responses have NO BEARING on the question being asked.
Responses seem to be determined by a "random response email" picker.
If E.R. detects a "word match", it tosses out an email that has the word in it,
which has NO BEARING on the question asked.
Over and over again.

Yes, Martha, the Example Registrar above has problems.
ANY problem that occurs is YOUR problem, NOT THEIR problem.
The Customer is ALWAYS WRONG.
They dread having human contact with you, because then you will REALLY KNOW how bad things are.
They avoid you by sending out computer-generated emails, until you go away.

The E.R. Domain Registrar Business Model
1. No human interaction - too costly - 100% computerized customer service
2. Ignore, discourage, and recirculate any problems the computer can't handle
3. Customers will eventually go away - problem solved

"If our computers can't 100% handle your account, we don't want your account. Period."

My Last Email from "Example Registrar"
I complied PRECISELY and EXACTLY with their instructions.
I went to the special page, filled in all the info, printed out THEIR document, and FAXED it to them as requested.
This is what I got back, completely out of left field.
(If the customer is getting close, just redefine the problem, and send them back to fret and chafe some more.)

E.R. wrote:

Dear John Doe,

We received your Email Reset fax request. Unfortunately, we are unable to process it due to the following reason:

[ Need PCR, Not Email Reset]

---The e-mail reset fax must be submitted by the Contact name listed for this User ID.

In order to initiate a Primary Contact Replacement form for your organization, please follow the instructions below:

Go to: https://www.exampleregistrar.com/en_US/manage-it/forget-login.jhtml

Enter the domain name associated with the account in the domain name area at the bottom of the page

Choose the third radio button for " I am not one of the above contact(s). I am the current designated representative of "Example Registrar", LLC. and need to gain access to the account to manage the organization's domain name registrations."

Click the "Create the Fax Form" link.

If you have already have a "Example Registrar" User ID and password, choose the "Current Customers" option. If you need to create a new user ID choose the "New Customers" option, and fill in the requested fields.

If select the "New Customers" option you will be prompted to enter information to create you new User ID.

Click the "Create Fax Form" button

Review the contact information on the Primary Account Contact Change Fax Form for accuracy.

Print the Primary Account Contact Change Form on your company letterhead or stationery.

**If you do not have company letterhead or stationery, please fax us a copy of your business license.

**Please note that the address on your company letterhead or business license must match the address we have in our records. If your address has changed, please fax a copy of a current utility bill matching the letterhead address along with the form.

You must be an authorized representative of the organization and must sign and note your title at the bottom of the fax form.

Tape or place your photo ID in the area provided on the fax form when photocopying your ID card.

Test the legibility of your documents before faxing your request.

Illegible faxes will not be processed.

Select a lighter setting on your copier when making a photocopy of your identification. Images transmit darker when sent by fax and may become too dark to be legible.

Using your fax machine, make a copy to verify that your information and photo identification can be clearly read.

Fax the completed form, along with any other required documents to "Example Registrar" Customer Service. Your fax must be received in a single transmission. Incomplete faxes or faxes received in multiple transmissions will not be processed.
