A Call For Papers! - Nov. 17, 2008
Charlie Thompson just reminded me of certain "Product Posters", which were published in small numbers by MMI. These posters presented our products in an exceptionally attractive manner. If you were there, you know what I mean. These posters would not be approved today, due to "political correctness". IF YOU HAVE ACCESS to any of these posters, and would like them to be displayed here, please contact me. Perhaps you could photograph them, scan the photos, and email them to me. I am certain that there are quite a few folks who would enjoy seeing them again. I will give you full credit (or none whatsoever), depending upon your wishes.
Thank you for considering the submission of your "historical research papers".
(High resolution preferred - I will make them as large as the pixels allow.)

Fond memories of Monolithic Memories, Inc.

A Brief Tribute and Salute to
the Early Employees of MMI
The First 10 years - 1969-1979

Reconstructed Company Early Employee List

(Note: Today, THE DAY I first made this page, I found that I am too late.
This concept site has already been done by
Dan Kinsella.
I didn't know about the site - here it is -

The Original
MMI Alumni - Monolithic Memories Former Employees Website

Apparently, there is STILL nothing new under the sun.
So, I guess I will differentiate this page into an
ELITIST, OLDEST MMI EMPLOYEE site - ha, ha, hah.
Why? I wasn't there in the 1980's. And time constraints.

Only Zeev gets in. And John. And HT!
And just a few others.
Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha.
MMI PAL Handbook - 1978

Many of us early MMI employees have some of our fondest career memories,
of our years at MMI during the 1970's.
I thought that I would provide a contact point for reminiscing.
(Most of the folks I knew were in Design and Test Engineering.)

MMI Alumni Reunions
George Hunter was the unofficial organizer of MMI reunions for years.
Dan Kinsella now seems to be the unofficial manager of MMI reunions.
A reunion was proposed for September 2004,
at the Kingshead Pub in Campbell, but ....???

Sept. 24, 2003 MMI Reunion Pictures - Kingshead Pub (Campbell)

Feb. 7, 1998 MMI Reunion Pictures - Bold Knight (Sunnyvale)

Apparently, Tom Tierney III hosts an annual St. Patrick's Day shindig,
which, in actuality, is also an MMI alumni reunion, as well.
Tom's Saint Paddy's Day Bash - March 17, 2005
Are you ex-MMI? Call Tom for details
Don't be a party pooper.
He's got the action.
Show up.

Reminiscing - MMI Trivia Questions

WATERING HOLE Trivia
The
Rusty Scupper in Sunnyvale, CA
was always our group's (bad boy's) Friday night watering hole.
Friday night special enhancement of beautiful women appreciation -
the ladies liked to strut, and we liked to observe.
Names will not be named, buy hey, if you were there, then ...

And Sunken Gardens
Paul Franklin's favorite

And St. John's Bar and Grill for the more traditional (B. Moss and assoc.)
I have had SCORES of bosses over the years, but only four excellent ones -
Bill Moss was the best.
Ben Wood (Signetics), Phil Holland (National) and Charlie Allen (Interdesign) were the other three.
All the rest can go and suck a pickle.
One can only excel when one is allowed to.

And what the hey was the name of that Roadhouse on Lawrence Station Road at Kifer?
(Lawrence Expressway now)
Some kind of Greek or Italian motif, or what not.
The "Pay and Pee"? Nah.
BIG National Semi watering hole.
The memories fade - I guess I had too many drinks in there,
esp. when I was at National Semi from 1971 to 1975.
Big on check cashing. GOT IT!

Marchetti's

And what was the name of the bar next to Signetics,
that is now the notorious "Kit-Kat Club"?
Was it the "Dirty Mug Beer Bar"?
Can't remember that either.
This very second, I am drinking beer from a mug I borrowed from there in 1970.
It's cleaner now. Very sturdy.
Thirty-four years. I wonder if they want it back?
Trade for a lap dance? Naa. Not my thing.

EMPLOYEE NAME Trivia

Anybody know who the first 10 badge-holders were?
Who was Badge #2?
I know #1, #3, and #7 (above) - who are the rest of the top 10?

What was the daytime guard's name at the side entrance of Bldg.1?
Ferd? Blern? Damn. Can't remember. Milt? Was it Milt?
He used to do all the Building 1 paging . . .
"George Kerrrn ...teeu-teeu-teeu ... George Kerrrn ... teeu-teeu-teeu please."
Thanks, Todd.
He MUST be included here. We engineering folks greeted him every day, and he us.

What was the name of the non-existant person who was regularly paged by the engineering department?
Better yet, who did the paging? And WHY???
Few people know this. Hint: He is on the list above.

RELATED Trivia
Remember Don Hoefler, and his Semiconductor Industry company rag,
Microelectronics News?
All the latest management level gossip - he named names - so much fun.
"So-and-so at Intel is a son-of-a-b**ch", he used to say!
Disgruntled employees used to send him "the goods".
He had proof. Died early from heart disease in 1986.
Remember Jim Riley, President of Signetics?
Died too young from heart disease.

Remember?
Sonic Blueprint on Kifer Rd.
Halted's (Sunnyvale) - Haltek (Sunnyvale)
The Corn Palace
Ingrid's Sandwiches on El Camino
That competitor down the street called AMD

Sources of Info
We came from National (me too) - we came from Signetics (me too, before National) -
we came from Fairchild (me, later, mistake).
I started this list off the top of my head, and then stole the rest from Dan's excellent site.

Do you have information to add?
How about a 1976 MMI Internal company phone book? That would be good.
Or 1974. Or 1975. Or 1977. Or 1978.

If you can produce it, I'll post each page as a JPEG!
Character scan would be even better - don't know if everyone would like to be Google-able.

Many thanks to everyone in advance for any info provided.
Would you like me to add your "clickable email address" to your name ?
Send me a quick email, and it's done!
(Yeah, I don't want to either - the damned spam - check out my coded address below.)

About Me
Nigritude Ultramarine seo
Me . . . Then

Me at National Semi in 1975
I still have my red 1964 Triumph Spitfire 4.
Some people just can't let go of the past.
So they make web pages like this.

All-jumps IC Tester
The Hollywood All-Jumps AC Tester
Universal IC Switching-Speed Tester

I designed and built 4 of these testers at MMI in 1976-1977.
It measured ROM/PROM Address Access delay time, from every address, to every other address.
It measured ROM/PROM Chip Enable/ Disable time, to and from every address.
It measured Clock-to-Output delay for any clocked IC part.
It performed 16 million tests in 26 seconds, limited only by the switching speed of the DUT.
The key component was a TI Precision One-shot, along with symmetrical latches.
I haven't had as much technical fun since.
Looks like I peaked 28 years ago. Oh, well.
$16,000 per annum seemed pretty good at the time.
