I refer to this as the bullspit price - an artificially high price which no one pays, but is used to demonstrate the alleged "discount".

Consistent

Prices "snapshot" - All prices recorded on the same day.

Cheapest

Costco ALWAYS has the lowest prices on everything,
but does not carry "Commonly Available Grocery Items."
The sizes are usually much larger, and
only a few brands are available.
Quality varies in the extreme - squeeze and sniff what you are buying in the fresh section.

Excellent selection of quality foods.
Prepared foods are expensive - everything is about $2.00 per pound too high - for instance, I can't see Chicken Tarragon at $11.99, which is half mayonnaise.
$9.99 per pound items should be $7.99,
$7.99 per pound items should be $5.99, etc.

Odwalla 128oz. OJ is sometimes $6.79 as a loss leader, often $8.69.
(Costco $4.99, Safeway $9.99)
Few "specials" - they throw out a lot.
I won't buy anything unless I find a special on SOMETHING.
Adequate parking in crowded lot

Parking is a hassle - one entrance, tight lot.
